Danny has been with the current owner for about 2 1/2 years and has been with us for about 18 month. His owner has been suffering with bad health and is not able to do much with Danny and has therefore reluctantly decided to put him up for sale. Danny is a real gentleman, totally uncomplicated and safe in every way. He is equally happy to go out on a quiet hack with a novice as on a fast gallop across the fields. He is a very comfortable ride with lovely springy paces. As our farm has some very steep fields Danny has had to get used to racing up and down with the rest of the herd and it is keeping him very fit although he doesn’t get ridden very much. His only problem is his two white legs that are prone to mud fever, mainly in the summer if he gets exposed to too much sun. We have now got him some UV protection chaps which helps a lot and we have not had any more problems since we have been aware of this. We also use a fly rug in the summer as he has a tendency to come up in bumps when there are a lot of midges around. He has been barefoot for16 months and his feet are getting better all the time, although we use boots for stony tracks and he gets on very well in them.
He is currently being fed on Simple System Soaked Pura Beet and Lucerne, with Linseed, Brewers yeast, seaweed and garlic. This keeps him really well and this winter he hasn’t lost any condition at all. Cereals do not suit him as he tends to loose his good gut bacteria and starts loosing weight. It also makes him a bit fizzy and he is so much better off without it.
A Good Home is more important than price hence the price £2500. We will stand by Danny and give you any help you need in getting him settled in his new home which must have at least one other horse. Although he is quiet happy to hack out on his own he wouldn’t be happy without another horse as a companion. Danny is welcome to stay here on full or part livery. We have good riding with quiet roads and paths and only a few miles from Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni mountain.
