True Grit
True Grit (Bobby) is a 4yr old home bred, standard bred (pacer), grey stallion.
He was broken to the sulky as a 3yr old and raced lightly at the end of that year. He was introduced to Simple System last year after they had some problems with a mare that was in training and then went off her food.
Since being fed on Simple System his coat is shiny and the farrier says his hoofs are hard and healthy. He also loves the food, not once has he refused to eat it.
It is important not only for speed but also for energy and stamina. Bobby has been racing now since April, starting in the nursery races for beginners. He did well there and was then moved up to the baby novice class.
The races are roughly a mile long and only last around 2 to 2 ½ minutes depending on the track. Unfortunately Bobby had a slight injury therefore was turned out for some time to recuperate. During this time he was blood tested and the results came back with good results, as in the past horses they had fed on cereals and supplements came back with anaemia and lacked in copper.
Bobby is now back in training and looking good, the season lasts until September, racing every Saturday with the odd midweek meeting.
